IMPORTANT BLIND FACTS
· Loft Blinds are a UK registered and based company. All of our blinds are sent via our UK warehouse. None are sent to our customers via a third party from overseas. Similarly, if you need to return or exchange any of your blinds, you do so to a UK address, not an overseas one.
· Buy with confidence-Loft Blinds sell ONLY 100% genuine Velux manufactured blinds, brand new, with a three year warranty, and direct from our UK based Office and Warehouse.
· 1000’s of blinds are sold each year on the Internet to UK consumers who believe they are buying genuine Velux blinds. Most are unaware, even after they have installed the blinds that they actually bought a blind for a Velux window, not a genuine Velux blind.
· Only Loft Blinds offer a next working day delivery service of stock Velux blinds and colour swatches.
· Loft Blinds are the only official bulk stockist of genuine Velux blinds in the UK.
· Loft Blinds offer a three (not two) year, no quibble guarantee, all administered in the UK and under UK, not overseas, law.
· And if you prefer to buy from a British company, check the address of the company you are buying that item from. All internet businesses must clearly display their full address as a legal requirement throughout the UK and EU.
· Loft Blinds are not brokers or middlemen. We handle and take responsibility for your purchase from start to finish-and beyond.
· So, if you find a blind on the Internet that has a price that seems “…too good to be true…”, do check that it is a genuine Velux manufactured and branded product.
· Remember-there is a difference between a Velux blind and a blind for a Velux window- a “blind for a Velux window” may not be a genuine Velux blind. If you expect a genuine and branded Velux blind then buy from us, with confidence.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
I understand that you offer a Next Day Delivery service?
- Yes-because we are the UK’s biggest stockist of Velux blinds, we are able to offer a range of blinds for next day delivery. These are stored in our West Sussex based warehouse facility.
- We dispatch blinds on every working day of the week (not weekends, public/Bank Holidays) for delivery the next working day (no dispatch/delivery on weekends).
- Please note that next day delivery is available on selected Velux blinds only. You should be able to tell which blinds are available for this service when you place the order. If you are not sure, or want to check with us, please call the Office on 01243-574726. The Office is staffed Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.
- Orders generally need to be received by 2pm at the latest to be processed and dispatched in time for delivery the next working day.
- It is important to refer to and read both our Terms and Conditions and Delivery information prior to placing your order. More information can be found on the Next Day Delivery service on the Delivery link.
What if my blind is not in stock when I place my order?
- Blinds that are not available for next day delivery are usually delivered between 7-10 working days after the date that your order was placed.
- All deliveries are made by Initial City Link. You do have the option of either passing on any specific delivery instructions to us when you place the order or by leaving a signed note for the driver (mark it FAO-City Link).
- Passing on specific delivery instructions or leaving written ones out for the courier is done at your own risk.
- If the courier attempts delivery and you are not at home (or) no specific delivery instructions have been passed on, the driver will leave you a card with your delivery reference on it and a contact telephone number for your local depot. You can then phone this depot and re-arrange delivery.
- Please note that once an order has been dispatched, it is not possible to change the delivery address unless a charge is incurred to cover our costs in doing so. This will be £14.95.
- Responsibility for ensuring safe delivery/arrival of your order is solely that of the person/s who placed the order and not Loft Blinds. We will pick/order your blind, label it with the address details provided and ensure its safe dispatch, however, we cannot and will not be held responsible for the actions of Initial City Link, its drivers and any of its representatives, regarding delivery of your item/s.
- To assist you in tracking your order, we can give you the delivery reference of said order, as well as a contact telephone number for Initial City Link. If you would like this information, please let us know.
- Personnel at the City Link depots will only discuss and arrange delivery specifics and instructions from the addressee, not Loft Blinds.
How much does Delivery cost?
- For orders over £50, delivery is free.
- For orders under £50, we will raise a small handling charge of £2.75.
What if I need to return my Velux blind?
If the blind is faulty/damaged:
- Contact Loft Blinds on 01243-574726, quoting your order reference. Please let us know the item affected and details of the fault/damage.
- We will arrange to send out a replacement blind to you (stock availability permitting). When the replacement blind is delivered, the courier will collect the faulty/damaged one and return it to us for inspection, prior to its return back to Velux. No charge is raised for this.
If you ordered the wrong blind in error/don’t like the blind/colour:
- Contact Loft Blinds on 01243-574726, quoting your order reference. Please let us know the item affected and why you are returning it.
- If an alternative item is required, we will (stock availability permitting) send one out to you as soon as we can. When the delivery of the replacement blind is made, the courier will collect and return the one you wish to return to us. Please ensure that the blind is sealed in and secure in its original packing prior to this.
- We will raise a charge of £14.95 to collect/replace or collect up to two blinds that you wish to return for these reasons.
- For each subsequent blind after this, an additional £4.95 will be charged.
- IMPORTANT- With this in mind, please ensure that you do not waste time or money in ordering the wrong blind or are unsure about the size of your window. Do call us for help or more information about the blinds if you are unclear about anything; in addition to this, if you want to check the colours of the blinds, do make use of our swatch ordering service (more details below).
Will you deliver to the Republic of Ireland or mainland Europe?
- At present, we will only deliver to UK addresses (ie) those with a full postal code.
- We do not offer a delivery service to the Republic of Ireland or mainland Europe.
- In addition, we cannot, at present, offer a next day delivery service (7-10 working days delivery would apply) to any of the following locations:-
- Northern Ireland.
- Channel Islands.
- Scottish Islands.
- Shetland Islands.
- For some of the more remote UK locations (eg) the Scottish Highlands, delivery for next day items may take more than one day. We will advise you if the delivery time is likely to be a little longer.
- We cannot deliver to a PO Box address.
Can I give my work address for delivery?
- Yes-just provide those details in the “Delivery Address” part of the online order form. It will help the courier if you can give any further information if this is to be the case (eg) if delivery needs to go to a Reception or other building/floor etc.
- With apartments/flats etc, it is a good idea to advise if the blinds can be left with a concierge or post room etc. Again, you can do so at the time the order is placed.
Can I change the delivery address after my order has been placed?
- If the order has been dispatched-no. It will be with the courier and it is not possible to intercept and amend the address details on specific orders.
- If the blind has yet to be dispatched-yes. But please advise us as soon as possible if you need to do this.
My blind is not in stock, how long will I have to wait?
- We receive bulk shipments from Velux on a daily basis. The time we quote for non-stock item deliveries is 7-10 working days, however, it is usually a little quicker than that. If your blind is not in stock when you order, we will check our pending deliveries to see when numbers of that blind are due in and advise you accordingly-it may even be within a day or so, but, allowing for all possibilities, we do quote that 7-10 day period.
- Our deliveries are sometimes subject to custom checks at both the Danish and UK ports of exit/entry, as well as the ambient sea conditions (the blinds are shipped over) at the time of the crossing.
- Delivery is also, of course, dependant on the speed and efficiency of the City Link couriers getting your order loaded and delivered-hence the importance of your address details, especially the postcode, being 100% accurate. The address you give will be the one that we use for dispatch purposes, we do not check them in anyway, so please be as clear and concise as you can.
Will you fit my blind for me?
- We do not offer a fitting service. The simple reason for this is that Velux blinds are specifically designed to be a DIY product. Our Velux blinds come with all the parts required to ensure swift and easy fitting, including full and simple instructions.
- You can find a “You Tube” video about Velux blind installation by clicking on the link below-
Fitting Velux Blinds
Will your blinds fit any Velux window?
- Almost certainly, yes. If your window size is not specified on our website, let us know the window size, we will then be able to source a blind and our price for you. The window size is on the identifying plate that is attached to the frame of the window and visible when you open it . Another way of identifying the window size is to let us have the inside glass measurements of the window-glass only, on the inside, and in cms, width x length.
- We would be able to source, price and order any Velux blind for you, so please do not think you cannot get one if it is not listed on the website. They will still be heavily discounted in price and will be the genuine Velux product.
- Other blind types that are available include Insect Screens, Awnings, and the electric blinds for the Velux Integra windows, as well as for Velux Conservation Windows.
- If you have the Velux windows with the white UPVC trim (“whiteline”), you have the option of having a matching white trim with your blinds (not available in Solar Remote).
- Please call or E Mail us if you would like more information.
Remember, there are six core Velux blind types-as follows:
- Roller Blinds (RFL)- These keep out direct sunlight but some light will filter through.
- Blackout Blinds (DKL) - These will black the light out entirely.
- Solar Remote Blackout Blinds (DSL)-As above, but remote controlled.
- Venetian Blinds (PAL)- Use the blades to control direction and the amount of light.
- Flying Pleated Blinds (FHL)- Soften the ambient light without darkening the room.
- Duo Blinds (DFD)-Combine the Blackout and Pleated blinds.
- Blackout blinds are ideal for bedrooms, the Venetian blinds are very popular in bathrooms.
I have the Velux Integra electric windows, can you provide blinds for them?
Yes. But it is important to realise that the Velux Remote Control DSL blinds do not fit these windows-they are for the standard, manually operated windows only. For Integra windows, you will need to purchase the specific blinds for these windows, these are not available on the website, but you can order them and get more information from us on 01243-574726.
I don’t see the Siesta blinds on your website, can I still get those?
- Yes-these are still available, but are now known as Blackout blinds, order reference codes are DKL for the standard Manual Blackout blinds or DSL for the Solar Powered Remote Controlled Blackout blinds.
Can I order colour swatches from you?
- Yes-you can do this online, enter your window type and size and then select the colours you are interested in (as if you were ordering a blind). When you get to the Shopping Basket, you will note a pink square that says “I Want To Buy Swatches Of These Blinds”-you can order as many as you like. They are £1 each, the cost of the swatch is refunded against any future purchase of blinds, per blind bought (ie) three swatches bought for £3, 1 blind purchased-£1 back, four swatches bought for £4, 4 blinds purchased-£4 back etc.
- This is an excellent way of seeing if the colour you are interested in is ideal for your blind and room décor and we would always recommend you check the swatches out if you are at all uncertain-we cannot take responsibility for orders placed where-by a blind is returned because you do not like the colour when there is an opportunity to check them beforehand.
Is there a guarantee for the blinds?
- Yes. The guarantee for Velux blinds is three years from date of purchase.
How can I reach a blind that is out of normal reach?
- If the blinds are out of reach, you will need an extendable rod to open/close them. The rod (ZCT 200) gives an additional reach of up to 180 cms. If that is not enough, you can purchase a rod extension (ZCT 100) that will give an additional 100 cms reach. On their own, the rod will open and close the windows, to open and close the blinds, you will need a blind adaptor, per blind. These attach to the end of the blinds. The order code is ZOZ 085.
Do you have a brochure and a showroom I can visit?
- We can send you a copy of the latest Velux Blinds brochure that will give you their latest range of blind types and colours. However, as the prices in the brochure will be Velux prices, please be aware that those stated in the brochure will be considerably more than our own, which are typically between 20-25% off the Velux retail price As we are a dedicated online sales and delivery service, we do not have showroom facilities, nor Velux blinds on display.
Has the design of the Velux Roller blinds changed?
- Yes. In July 2005, Velux commenced phasing out the old RNL-type Roller blinds. These were the ones with the wooden side panels and notches in the sides into which the blind was secured. The current Velux (RFL) type Roller blinds have aluminium side channels, meaning the blind can be held in any place on the window.
- You can no longer purchase Velux blinds with these old-type wooden siderails. All blinds now come with brushed aluminium siderails (GGU and GPU windows have the white UPVC option siderail option).
- Velux phased out some of the colour options for some of the blind types in February 2008. If the colour you are looking for does not seem to be available, this could be the reason why. Contact us for confirmation and to discuss other colour options.
